This unique role will require you to support and educate pupils to become resilient, safe and respectful learners, through the use of our therapeutic strategies including PACE, the Thrive approach and Zones of Regulation. You will have a strong belief that all behaviour is communication and that, with the right adult support, children can learn the self-regulation skills needed to lead successful and happy lives.

Nigel Bowes Academy is an Outstanding primary school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. By providing a calm and learning-focused environment, our pupils flourish and achieve, leading to accelerated outcomes in all areas of their development. Our school has a community feel and we take the time to ensure we are always striving to achieve the best.

The role of Behaviour Support Mentor (BSM) is to support an inclusive and high-quality learning environment for our pupils, using a solution focused, pupil-centred and consistent approach. The successful candidate will have a flexible approach, knowledge and experience of working with children in KS1-2 who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The post requires someone who is highly resilient, able to work well as a member of a successful team and someone who has highly developed interpersonal skills and a good sense of humour.
